Talk is on teens and Internet use
Mark Burton, LICSW, will conduct a lecture on the topic of "Adolescent Behavior: Choices and Consequences." This lecture will be held next Thursday, April 5, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Circles of Wisdom, 90 Main St. Burton has been working with adolescents and their families for almost 30 years. He maintains a practice in Andover Center. This lecture considers the boom in teen use of the Internet for communication and parents' concerns about how their teens use this medium. Burton will also discuss the most recent discoveries about the adolescent brain and how brain activity affects the teen's decision-making, impulse-control, ability to reason and interpret the world around them. Burton says,"There has never been a more important time to understand and help our children navigate through this sometimes turbulent and often times confusing period in their lives. Parents need a great deal of support and guidance to weather this dramatic change in the family." For information, call 978-470-4975.
