Margaret S. Burnham


Margaret S. Burnham, 84, died Sunday, March 11, at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.

Born in Lawrence to William A.R. and Marjorie (McNabb) Gordon, she was a lifelong resident of Andover.

Mrs. Burnham was very proud of her service in the United States Navy during WWII.

After working many years at the Internal Revenue Service, Mrs. Burnham retired and then volunteered more than 7,500 hours at Lawrence General Hospital.

She was a member of Free Christian Church in Andover where she was active in various church groups.

Family was said to be her true passion, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was married to the late Robert A. Burnham.

Family members include her daughters, Pamela B. Fisher of Lancaster, Pa.; Priscilla A. Pickles of Methuen; Barbara J. Havey of Hampstead, N.H.; a brother, Walter M. Gordon of Sedalia, Mo.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Clement, William, and Alexander Gordon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Free Christian Church Organ Fund, 31 Elm St., Andover, 01810.

Arrangements were by the Dewhirst & Conte Funeral Home in Andover.
