Robert L. Buchanan


Robert L. Buchanan, 67, of Tewksbury and formerly of North Andover and Andover, died Monday, March 5, at Sutton Hill Nursing Home, after a long illness.

Mr. Buchanan was born in Boston, the son of the late Charles and Helen (Shay) Buchanan.

He was raised and educated in North Andover and graduated from Johnson High School in 1957. He was also a longtime Andover resident.

Mr. Buchanan was a former member of the South Lawrence Associates. He worked at RCA in Burlington for 25 years as a publications coordinator whose duties included working with NASA and with the development of the lunar module.

He was an avid sports fan and he loved to garden.

Family members include his wife, Carol Ann (Gillis) Buchanan of Tewksbury and formerly of North Andover; a daughter, Kristine Kettering and her husband Andrew of Westford; a son, Scott Buchanan of East Corinth, Maine; two grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Lima and her husband Robert of Center Harbor, N.H.,, Lois Tamis and her husband Anthony of Lady Lake, Fla.,; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Buchanan of Georgetown, who was predeceased by her husband, Charles Buchanan.

Calling hours are today, Thursday, March 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dewhirst & Conte Funeral Home in North Andover.

A funeral Mass will be said Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, with a burial to follow in Holy Sepluchre Cemetery, both in North Andover.
