John H. Thorn

John H. Thorn, 95, of West Newbury, formerly of Andover and North Andover, died Thursday evening, Feb. 22, after a brief illness, at Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport.

He was the husband of Alice (Rogers) Thorn, with whom he celebrated 65 years of marriage on Jan. 18, 2007.

Born in Wolfeboro, N.H., he was the son of the late John A. and Vern (Roberts) Thorn and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1931, then attended two years at Bentley College.

A self-employed accountant, he dedicated himself to his profession, retiring at the age of 82.

Family members include his wife, Alice; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery and Marilena Thorn of West Newbury; two grandchildren, Scott and Leana Thorn; as well as several cousins.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services are private. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon St., Watertown, MA 02472. Arrangements are by Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green St., Newburyport.
