Elizabeth A. Clarke


Elizabeth A ( Burke) Clarke, 87, died Feb. 24, at the Lawrence General Hospital.

Mrs. Clarke was a former long time Andover resident. She was born in Lawrence to the late David J. and Bessie M. ( Boyd) Burke, as one of 11 children. She was raised and educated in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School. She was a ceramics teacher and held classes in her studio at her home. Mrs. Clarke was also known for her wall murals which could be found in many of the larger department stores in Lawrence. She wintered in Florida for many years and attended St. Michael's Church in North Andover. She enjoyed baking and knitting but her greatest enjoyment and time was that spent with her family. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grand children.

Family members include her three sons and their wives, John J. Jr. and Linda of Epping, N.H., James F. and Kirstin of Andover, David A. and Ellen of Ipswich, a daughter Jill and her husband Edward Brown of North Andover, a sister Lana Sholik of Salem, N.H., 12 grandchildren, 5 great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, John J. Clarke

Arrangements were by Dewhirst and Conte Funeral Home in North Andover. Memorial contributions may be made to the Academy Manor Activity Department, 89 Morton St., Andover, MA 01810.
