Frederick Moore


Frederick Appel Moore, 81, of Ormond Beach, Fla., died Tuesday, Jan. 30 at the Hospice of Volusia/Flagler County in Florida.

He was born in Boston to the late Robert and Josephine (Appel) Moore.

Mr. Moore moved to Ormond Beach from Hanover, N.H.

A graduate of Philips Andover Academy, Mr. Moore received a bachelor's degree from Bowdoin College.

A Marine, he was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Moore spent 42 years in the life insurance industry, ultimately serving as second vice president for Chubb Life Insurance Co. in Concord, N.H.

He was a chartered life underwriter and treasurer of the College for Financial Planning.

In his later years, Mr. Moore served as director of gift planning for Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover.

He was previously senior warden of St. Thomas Church in Hanover, a member of the Social-Summit Masonic Lodge in Canaan, N.H., Scottish rite and the Bektash Shrine in Concord, N.H., and an elder of the Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church.

Family members include his wife of two years, GeorgeAnn Moore; two daughters, Lucinda Hammett of Waynesville, N.C., and Stephanie Schultz of Arvada, Colo.; son, Jonathan Moore of Andover; sister, Beverly Quady of LaJolla, Calif.; stepson, Jeffrey Grammer of Cudjoe Key, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Cynthia Newton Moore.

A memorial service will be held Monday, March 5 at the Cochran Chapel at Philips Academy.
