Edna Close
Edna (Marcus) Close, 95, of Andover, died Monday morning, Feb. 5, after a long illness at Wingate of Andover. Born and raised in Boston, Mrs. Close came to Lawrence when she married her late husband of 44 years, Charles Close, who died in 1979. She lived in Lawrence until moving to Andover 23 years ago. Mrs. Close was employed as a bookkeeper at Russem's Department Store in Lawrence for more than 25 years. She was a member of Temple Emanuel of Andover of more than 50 years and also belonged to Hadassah and the Sisterhood of Temple Emanuel. Family members include her sons, Barry Close and Alan Close; her brother, Morris Marcus and his wife Dorothy Marcus; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Hacker; and many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Services at Temple Emanuel of Andover were held Wednesday, Feb. 7. Condolence calls may be made at her late residence, 247 North Main St., Andover on Wednesday until 8 p.m., Thursday 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday from noon to 4 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Temple Emanuel or a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are by Goldman Funeral Chapels in Malden.
