Lila Mamis


Lila (Harris) Mamis, 84, of Andover, died Thursday, Jan. 11, at the Academy Manor Nursing Home.

She was born in Leeds, England, a daughter of the late Morris and Lily (Abramoff) Harris.

Mrs. Mamis was educated in Vermont and moved to Methuen in the mid-1990s with her sister, Mae Crochetiere.

She also lived in Florida for 15 years.

She was employed for a short time at the American Restaurant Association Cafeteria in Largo, Fla.

She was the widow of her husband, Sol Mamis, who died in 1990.

Family members include her son, Steven Mamis, and his wife, Nancy, of Methuen; daughters, Francine and her husband John DeBerardinis, and Estelle and her husband, Terry Shapiro, all of Syracuse, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service is planned at the Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
