Mary Roehr
Mary "Maureen" (Splaine) Roehr, 71, of Salem, N.H., formerly a longtime resident of Andover, and Hamden, Conn., died unexpectedly at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen on Jan. 6. Born in Arlington, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Helen (Carroll) Splaine. Mrs. Roehr was a graduate of the Boston State Teachers College, class of 1957 and received her master's degree in 1976 from Southern Connecticut State University in Reading. While living in Hamden Conn., she was an active member of the New Haven Junior League. Mrs. Roehr was a volunteer in the St. Rita School Religious Education Program as well as a volunteer in the school library. During her teaching career, Mrs. Roehr was a teacher in the Lawrence and New Haven, Conn. public school systems. Mrs. Roehr is predeceased by her husband Andrew J. Roeh. Family members include two daughters, Patricia and her husband Mark Panico of Guilford, Connecticut; Elle and her husband Charles Bitzer of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one son, Andrew J. and his wife Mitra Roehr of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren Michael Panico, Matthew, Nicholas, Elizabeth and Hannah Bitzer and Jack and Will Roehr; two brothers, Thomas Splaine of Westfield, N.J. and Patrick Scanlon of Exeter, N.H.; four sisters, Patricia McCarthy of Watertown, Joan Prindiville of Bozeman, Mont., Mary Connor of Lexington, and Angela Barclay of New Harbor, Maine; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours are scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be said Saturday, Jan. 13 at St. Augustine Church, at 9 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Memorial & Honor Program - F, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
