Katherine E. Kloss
Katherine E. (Painter) Kloss, 43, of Andover, died at home Monday, Jan. 8, after a brief illness. Born May 21, 1963 in San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Kloss graduated from the University of California Berkeley in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. At Berkeley she met her husband, David. They were married in 1986 and moved back to Massachusetts, settling in Westfield and subsequently moving to Andover in 1987 where they remained. She was a registered professional engineer in civil engineering in both California and Massachusetts, specializing in water works projects. Of her many activities Mrs. Kloss will be remembered most for her steadfast devotion to learning and as a volunteer mentor to local Andover school students. Family members include her husband of 20 years, David; sons Daniel and Peter; father and mother, Benjamin and Ileta (Wilson) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; brother Steven Painter and his wife Lisa of Orlando, Fla.; brother Kenneth Painter and his wife Laura of San Jose, Calif.; and many nephews and nieces. A private service is planned. Memorial donations may be made to the cancer research foundation or charity of one's preference.
