Anthony M. Fredella
Anthony M. "Tony" Fredella, 73, of Merrimac, died Saturday, Jan. 6, at the home he built, after a courageous battle with cancer, with his beloved wife at his side. He was surrounded by the love and prayers of family and friends he treasured, family members said. Born in Boston, he lived in Merrimac for the past year and was formerly of Andover. Mr. Fredella practiced law for more than 35 years with his firm Fredella and Wheeler, formerly in Somerville. He was a graduate of Northeastern University and Boston College Law School. Mr. Fredella was a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Justinian Law Society. He served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. Mr. Fredella loved to travel and spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Family members include his wife, Mary Jane Denahey of Merrimac; daughters, Jennifer Foster and husband Jack of Pawtucket, R.I., Andrea Bertonazzi and husband Brian of Southboro, Christine Harrington and husband Robert of Haverhill, and Sharon Denahey; sons and daughters-in-law, David Fredella and wife Sally of Methuen, Paul Fredella and wife Ann of Newbury, Vt., Ron Denahey and wife Nicole of Nashua, N.H., Christopher Fredella and wife Martha of Worcester; his mother, Jennie (Vella) Fredella; 19 grandchildren; brother, Frank Fredella of Woburn; sisters, Phyllis Cain of Reading, Josephine Gagnon of Methuen, and Eleanor Alcorn of Essex, Vt.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Lorenzo Fredella. Calling hours were held Wednesday at the Della Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. A funeral Mass will be said today, Thursday, Jan. 11 at 9 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Valley St., Malden. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Memorial donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Division of Development - Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, Floor 6, Brookline, MA 02445-9924.
