Article 42: Gould Road stays off sewer

At the request of Gould Road residents, voters approved Article 42, which removed the street from the South Main Street sewer project.

The street was included last year in the largest sewer expansion project in the town's history.

Gould Road resident Justin Burley said of the six homes on Gould Road, four are occupied by retired residents on "declining incomes," and the expense of adding pumping systems at $15,000 to $20,000 would force most residents to move.

The homes are built on sand and have "excellent drainage," and do not need a sewer line, Burley said.

He added that the sewer project would not have to be redesigned by not including Gould on the plan. Gould Road is at the end of the proposed new sewer system.
