Santa Parade is Sunday
The 44th annual Andover Firefighters' Santa Parade will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, a half-hour earlier than usual. Participants will meet behind the Doherty School at noon. The route will begin on Whittier Street, left on Elm, left on Main Street, left on Punchard Avenue and finish back at the Doherty School. Retired public works director Bob McQuade is the Grand Marshal. He was the unanimous first choice for Grand Marshal by a six-person board, according to parade chairman Lt. Mark Conlon. Once again this year, the firefighters have donated more than one-third of money to finance the parade. In the event of bad weather, the makeup date for the parade will be the following Sunday, Dec. 5th. The Department of Community Services will have a band playing in the Park before the Parade this year. Contact them or look in the DCS booklet for more details on the band.
