Brooks attempted soaking of Leno all wet
Country music star Garth Brooks proved to be a miserable hitter during a brief stint with Major League Baseball's San Diego Padres this spring. He did little more than swing and miss Monday night as well, as he tried to exact revenge from frequent tormentor Jay Leno.

Sporting Dog, the short film that opened this month at the Boston Film Festival, won Best Short Film in the CMJ/Independent Film Channel Film Festival held in New York City this past week.

"I'm curious to know if any of your readers know of a local artist named Pat Cheever. I grew up in Andover and my parents had three Cheever paintings which I now have hanging on my wall out here in California. I know that the Cheever name is well-known in the town and perhaps these were given/sold to my parents by one of them. I believe they acquired them in the '50s. I have been unable to discover anything more."
